Over the past few decades there has been a resurgence of zoonotic diseases such as SARS and Avian lnfluenza. Why do zoonotic diseases emerge, and what factors lead to epidemics? This course will address these questions, and apply an ecological approach to an understanding of epidemiology in human, livestock, and wildlife populations.P: BIO 201/BIO 205 and BIO 202/BIO 206 and one of the following: BIO 390, BIO 432, BIO 451, or BIO 481; Contemporary Composition; Oral Communication.
