Accreditations and Approvals

Creighton University is fully accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the accrediting agency for the region in which the University is situated.

The Heider College of Business is an accredited member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-AACSB International (graduate and undergraduate programs). The accounting program has been accredited (Type A - baccalaureate) by the Accounting Accreditation Committee of the Association.

The Creighton University Paramedicine Education Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the Emergency Medical Services - Paramedic Professions. The program also is approved by the State of Nebraska.

The Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Master’s degree in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and post-graduate APRN certificate at Creighton University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (www.aacnnursing.org).

The Department of Social Work is an accredited Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) program preparing professional undergraduate social workers.

The teacher education programs of Creighton University are fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for the preparation of elementary, secondary, and special education teachers at the undergraduate level, and for the graduate-level preparation of teachers, school principals and school counselors.

The program in dental education is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been granted the accreditation status of "approval without reporting requirements.” The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Creighton University School of Law is fully accredited by the American Bar Association Section (ABA) of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar. The School of Law is also a member of the Association of American Law Schools.

The School of Medicine is fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), representing the Association of American Medical Colleges and the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association. The Department of Education recognizes the LCME for the accreditation of programs of medical education leading to the M.D. degree in institutions that are themselves accredited by regional accrediting associations. Institutional accreditation assures that medical education takes place in a sufficiently rich environment to foster broad academic purposes. The School of Medicine is also an institutional member of the Association of American Medical Colleges.

The School of Medicine is also accredited by The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for the training of medical residents.

The School of Pharmacy and Health Professions programs are accredited as follows: 

The Pharmacy program, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

The program in Occupational Therapy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association Inc.

The program in Physical Therapy is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
