Spiritual Direction and Directed Retreats-Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Spiritual Direction and Directed Retreats (SDDR) requires 21 credit hours of coursework, most of which is completed on Creighton’s Omaha campus. Each SDDR student is required to make an eight-day directed retreat, preferably at the Creighton University Retreat Center and prior to the start of coursework.  Throughout the program, students will be assessed not only on their intellectual knowledge and personal appropriation of course materials and the contemplative-evocative approach to spiritual direction, but also on their development of the ministerial skills and attitudes that are essential for the ministry of spiritual direction.  The required coursework includes 3 credits of supervised practicum experience in spiritual direction and directed retreats.
