Creighton Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pathway to Graduate Nursing Programs

The Seamless Transition to Graduate Education Pathway is designed for BSN graduates from Creighton University College of Nursing who want to pursue a terminal degree in Advanced Nursing Practice or as a Nurse Educator. Completing the undergraduate BSN program through Creighton University prepares students to enter graduate education with the knowledge and skillset necessary to be a successful graduate student. Recognizing the excellent preparation students in the BSN programs receive, the transition to graduate education can be done seamlessly and with credit given for previous success in certain courses.

Admission Requirements

  1. A baccalaureate degree from Creighton University College of Nursing awarded within the past 12 months.
  2. A minimum of a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  3. One recommendation letter supporting the student’s ability to be successful in graduate education (addressing academic and personal attributes) from a Creighton College of Nursing faculty that the student worked with in the undergraduate program.
  4. Students must be licensed as a RN in their state of residence prior to enrolling in Clinical courses.
    1. Nurse Practitioner tracks require experience as a RN prior to enrolling in Practicum I. The minimum required hours for the NP tracks can be found on the Programs of Study for each individual track.
  5. Students must enroll in graduate courses within twelve months of their graduation date. Students who do not enroll within this time frame will be required to complete the application process for the MSN / DNP program.
  6. Validation of the applicant’s ability to meet the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor requirements of the nursing curriculum, with or without reasonable accommodations, consistent with the American Disabilities Act is required. Students must complete the Safety and Technical Standards form attesting to their ability to meet these requirements.

Creighton BSN - DNP Post Baccalaureate Application Transition Tracks

  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner - manages the care of individuals in acute care settings. Graduates who complete the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP program meet eligibility for national certification through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Family Nurse Practitioner  - manages care throughout the lifespan of individuals and families. Graduates who complete the Family NP program meet eligibility for national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP).
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - manages care for newborns in all levels of neonatal intensive care units. Graduates who complete the Neonatal NP program meet eligibility for national certification through the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
  • Pediatric Primary and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (Dual) - manages the care of pediatric patients across the entire continuum of health from wellness to critical care. Graduates who complete the Pediatric Dual track NP program are eligible to take the primary and acute care national certification exams through the Pediatric Nurse Certification Board (PNCB).
  • Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - manages care throughout the lifespan of diverse populations and can practice within both acute and primary care settings. Graduates who complete Psychiatric Mental Health NP Program meet eligibility for national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Nursing Administration & Leadership - prepares nurses as innovative and collaborative leaders in diverse health care settings, corporations and consulting firms, improving the quality of healthcare.
