Creighton First-Generation ADVISORY CouncilÂ
Creighton defines a first-generation student as one whose parent(s) or guardian(s) have not earned a four-year college degree.
The Creighton First-Generation Steering Council is a university-wide leadership body that advances institutional strategy, coordination, and continuous improvement efforts to support first-generation student success. Comprised of faculty and staff from across Creighton’s schools, colleges, and administrative units, the Council works collaboratively to strengthen systems, reduce equity gaps, and enhance the student experience from enrollment through graduation and beyond.
The Council guides and supports a range of initiatives designed to foster belonging, academic success, and engagement among first-generation students. These efforts include orientation and transition programming, community-building events, campus-wide celebrations of National First-Generation College Student Day, and ongoing communication and resource development for students and families.
